ଚଳଚ୍ଚିତ୍ର ପାଠ୍ୟର ପ୍ରଥମ ଖସଡ଼ା। ସମୟ ଏକ ଲକ୍ଷ୍ୟ; କଣ୍ଠ ରେକର୍ଡ ହୋଇନାହିଁ।

ସ୍ଥାନ ଓ ସମୟ / Place and time
ବର୍ତ୍ତମାନର କୋରାପୁଟ ପାହାଡ଼ ଅଞ୍ଚଳର ଏକ କାଳ୍ପନିକ ଗାଁ। ରେବା ମାଉସୀଙ୍କ ଅଗଣା ଓ ବାରଣ୍ଡା। କୁସୁମ ଓ ମନ୍ଦାର ଦୁଇ ଭଉଣୀଙ୍କ ପିଲା; ରେବା ଦୁହିଁଙ୍କ ମାଉସୀ।
A fictional village in the present-day Koraput hills. Reba Mausi’s courtyard and veranda. Kusum and Mandar are cousins; Reba is aunt to both.

ଭାବର ପରିବର୍ତ୍ତନ / The performance turn
ସ୍ୱଚ୍ଛନ୍ଦ ଦୌଡ଼ → ପଛର ଛୁଆଁ ଅନୁଭବ → ଲାଞ୍ଜ ଝାଡ଼ି ଚାଲିଯିବା।

ପୋଷାକ ଓ ଚଳନ / Clothing and movement
ଚିକୁ ଏକ ମୁକ୍ତଜୀବୀ ଗୁଣ୍ଡୁଚି ମୂଷା। ପିଠିରେ ତିନି ଲମ୍ବା ହାଲୁକା ଦାଗ, କ୍ରିମ୍ ପେଟ, ଛୋଟ ଗୋଲ କାନ ଓ ଘନ ଲାଞ୍ଜ। ପୋଷାକ ବା ଅଳଙ୍କାର ନାହିଁ। ପିଲାଙ୍କ ତୁଳନାରେ ଆକାର ଛୋଟ ରହିବ।
Chiku is a free-living three-striped palm squirrel: three pale longitudinal back stripes, cream underside, small rounded ears and a bushy tail. No clothes or ornaments. Keep its small scale relative to the children.

ପ୍ରତି ଦୃଶ୍ୟରେ ମେଳ / Continuity between shots
ଗୋଟିଏ ହାଲୁକା ଶୁଖିଲା ପତ୍ର ଲୋମରେ ଅଳ୍ପ ଲାଗିଥାଏ; କଣ୍ଟା ବା ବନ୍ଧନ ନୁହେଁ। ପିଲାମାନେ ଚିକୁକୁ ଧରିବେନି। ଶେଷରେ ପତ୍ର ମାଟିରେ ରହିବ।
One light dry leaf is loosely caught in the fur, without thorns or entanglement. The children do not handle Chiku. The leaf stays on the ground at the end.

ଚିକୁ ଶୁଖିଲା ପତ୍ର ଭିତରୁ ବାହାରି ଛୋଟ ଧାରକୁ ଆସେ। ଲାଞ୍ଜରେ ଏକ ପତ୍ର ଲାଗିଛି।
Chiku comes out through dry leaves onto a low edge. A leaf clings to its tail.
ଧ୍ୱନି / Sound: ପତ୍ର ମଚ୍‌ମଚ୍। / Dry leaves crinkle.

ଦୃଶ୍ୟ 2 · 12–24 ସେକେଣ୍ଡ / Scene 2 · 12–24 seconds
ଚିକୁ ଅଟକି ମୁଣ୍ଡ ପଛକୁ ବୁଲାଏ। ଲାଞ୍ଜ ହଲିଲେ ପତ୍ର ହଲେ। ଦୂରରୁ ମନ୍ଦାର ଦେଖେ।
Chiku pauses and turns its head back. The leaf moves with the tail. Mandar watches from a distance.
ଧ୍ୱନି / Sound: ଏକ ହାଲୁକା ଖସ୍‌ଖସ୍। / A soft rustle.
ମନ୍ଦାର: ପତ୍ରଟା ବି ସାଙ୍ଗରେ ଯାଉଛି।
Mandar: The leaf is coming along too.

ଦୃଶ୍ୟ 3 · 24–36 ସେକେଣ୍ଡ / Scene 3 · 24–36 seconds
ଚିକୁ ଥରେ ଦେହ ଓ ଲାଞ୍ଜ ଝାଡ଼େ। ପତ୍ର ଛିଡ଼ି ଧୀରେ ତଳକୁ ଖସେ।
Chiku shakes its body and tail once. The leaf comes free and drifts down.
ଧ୍ୱନି / Sound: ଝଟ୍ ଓ ପତ୍ରର ମୃଦୁ ପଡ଼ିବା। / A shake and a light landing.

ଦୃଶ୍ୟ 4 · 36–50 ସେକେଣ୍ଡ / Scene 4 · 36–50 seconds
ଚିକୁ ଗଛକୁ ଚଢ଼ିଯାଏ। ମନ୍ଦାର ପତ୍ରକୁ ଚାହିଁ ତା’ପରେ ଉପରକୁ ଚାହେଁ। ପତ୍ର ମାଟିରେ ରହିଛି।
Chiku climbs the tree. Mandar looks at the leaf, then upwards. The leaf stays on the ground.
ଧ୍ୱନି / Sound: ଗଛରେ ଛୋଟ ପାଦ ଓ ହାଲୁକା ହସ। / Little claws on bark and a quiet laugh.
ମନ୍ଦାର: ତା’ ଯାତ୍ରା ଏଇଠି ସରିଲା।
Mandar: That’s the end of the leaf’s trip.
