ସ୍ଥାନ ଓ ସମୟ / Place and time
ଗଛ ଥିବା ଏକ ସାଧାରଣ ଓଡ଼ିଆ ଅଗଣାର କଳ୍ପିତ ଗପ ସମୟ। କୌଣସି ନିର୍ଦ୍ଦିଷ୍ଟ ଜିଲ୍ଲା ବା ଐତିହାସିକ ଘଟଣା ନୁହେଁ। ପିଲାଙ୍କ କଣ୍ଠ ଡାଳ ତଳୁ ଆସେ; ସେମାନେ ଚିତ୍ର ବାହାରେ। କୋଇଲି ଏହି ସଂଗ୍ରହର ସାହିତ୍ୟିକ କଥକ। ନୀଳୁ–ଚଇତିର ସାଧାରଣ ପକ୍ଷୀ ସାଥୀଠାରୁ ତା’ର ଭୂମିକା ଅଲଗା।
An imagined story time in an ordinary Odia courtyard with a tree, without a named district or historical event. Children speak from below the branch and remain outside the frame. Koeli is the collection’s literary narrator, with a different role from Nilu–Chaiti’s ordinary bird companion.

ଭାବର ପରିବର୍ତ୍ତନ / The performance turn
ନିଜ ଗୀତରେ ମଗ୍ନ → ପିଲାର କଥାରେ ଥାମିବା → ଛୋଟ ଶବ୍ଦର ଉତ୍ସ ଦେଖିବା → ଶେଷରେ ନିଜେ ଶୁଣିବାକୁ ବାଛିବା।
Absorbed in its song → stopping at the child’s request → finding the small sound → choosing to listen at the end.

ରୂପ ଓ ଚଳନ / Appearance and movement
ପୂର୍ବ ପୁରୁଷ ଏସୀୟ କୋଇଲି ଅଧ୍ୟୟନ ସହ ମେଳ: ନୀଳଚେ କଳା ପର, ଲମ୍ବା ଲାଞ୍ଜ, ହାଲୁକା ଧୂସର–ସବୁଜ ଥଣ୍ଟ ଓ ସଂଯତ ଲାଲଚେ ଆଖି। ପୋଷାକ, ଅଳଙ୍କାର ବା ମଣିଷର ହାତ ନାହିଁ। ମୁଣ୍ଡ ଢଳାଇବା, ଥଣ୍ଟ ଖୋଲିବା, ଦେହ ଆଗକୁ ଝୁଙ୍କାଇବା ଓ ଦୁଇ ପାଦରେ ଡାଳ ଧରିବାରେ ଅଭିନୟ। ପକ୍ଷୀଟି ଓଡ଼ିଶାରେ ସୀମିତ ନୁହେଁ; ଏହି ଚରିତ୍ରର ସମ୍ପର୍କ ଓଡ଼ିଆ କଥା ଓ ସାହିତ୍ୟ ସ୍ମୃତିରୁ ଆସେ।
Keep the earlier male Asian koel study: blue-black feathers, long tail, pale grey-green bill and restrained reddish eyes. No clothes, ornaments or human hands. Act through head tilts, an opening bill, a forward lean and two feet gripping the branch. The species is not exclusive to Odisha; this character’s connection comes through Odia speech and literary memory.

ପ୍ରତି ଦୃଶ୍ୟରେ ମେଳ / Continuity between shots
ବର୍ଷା ଥାମିଯାଇଛି; ନୂଆ ବର୍ଷା ପଡ଼ୁନି। ପାଖ ଉପର ଡାଳରୁ ରହିଯାଇଥିବା ପାଣି ତଳ ପତ୍ରରେ ପଡ଼େ। ସେଇ ଡାଳ ଓ ସେଇ ପତ୍ର ସବୁ ଦୃଶ୍ୟରେ ଏକ ଜାଗାରେ। କୋଇଲି ପତ୍ରକୁ ଛୁଏଁନି; ପାଦ ଡାଳ ଧରିଥାଏ। ଠୋପା ଓ ପତ୍ରର ଛୋଟ ଚଳନ ଧ୍ୱନି ସହ ମେଳିବ। ପିଲାର କଣ୍ଠ ଚିତ୍ର ବାହାରୁ।
The rain has stopped; no fresh rain falls. Residual water drops from a nearby upper twig onto a lower leaf. The same twig and leaf stay in the same positions across shots. Koeli does not touch the leaf; both feet grip its perch. Drop impact and the leaf’s small movement must match the sound. The child speaks offscreen.

ଦୃଶ୍ୟ 1 · 0–12 ସେକେଣ୍ଡ / Scene 1 · 0–12 seconds
ବର୍ଷା ଛାଡ଼ିଛି। କୋଇଲି ଗାଏ। ପାଖ ଡାଳରୁ ପାଣି ଠୋପା ପଡ଼େ।
The rain has stopped. Koeli sings while a drop falls from a nearby branch.
ଧ୍ୱନି / Sound: କୁହୁ ଡାକ; ତା’ ତଳେ ଏକ ଟପ୍। / Kuhu calls with a faint tap underneath.
କୋଇଲି: ଆଉ ଥରେ ଶୁଣ—କୁହୁ!

ତଳୁ ଜଣେ ପିଲା ଶୁଣିବାକୁ କହେ। କୋଇଲି ଗୀତ ଥାମେ, ମୁଣ୍ଡ ଢଳାଏ।
A child below asks it to listen. Koeli stops singing and tilts its head.
ଧ୍ୱନି / Sound: ଗୀତ ଥାମେ; ଟପ୍ ଶବ୍ଦ ସ୍ପଷ୍ଟ ହୁଏ। / The song stops; the tap becomes clear.
ପିଲା: ଟିକେ ରୁହ। ସେ ଶବ୍ଦଟା ଶୁଣୁଛ?

ପତ୍ରରେ ଆଉ ଗୋଟିଏ ଠୋପା ପଡ଼େ। କୋଇଲି ତଳକୁ ଝୁଙ୍କି ଦେଖେ; ପତ୍ର ଛୁଏଁନି।
Another drop lands on a leaf. Koeli leans down to see, without touching it.
ଧ୍ୱନି / Sound: ଟପ୍। ଏକ ବିରାମ। ପୁଣି ଟପ୍। / Tap. A pause. Tap again.
କୋଇଲି: ଏତିକି ଠୋପାରୁ ଏତେ ଶବ୍ଦ!

କୋଇଲି ପିଲାଙ୍କ ଆଡ଼କୁ ତାକେ, ପୁଣି ପତ୍ରକୁ। ଶେଷ କିଛି ସେକେଣ୍ଡରେ କଥା ନାହିଁ।
Koeli looks towards the children, then back at the leaf. Leave the final seconds without dialogue.
