ବର୍ଷା ପରର ବାଟ / The Path After Rain Complete six-panel script — first draft PANEL 1 — An ordinary errand Wide view: Reba, Kusum and Mandar leave the village on the damp earth path after rain. Reba carries her single patched work bag on her right shoulder. Kusum walks purposefully; Mandar looks around. Low hills and a forest edge establish their home. Ahead, a path divides near a triangular boulder with a pale diagonal vein. No squirrel yet. ODIA Caption: ବର୍ଷା ଛାଡ଼ିଗଲା। ରେବା ମାଉସୀଙ୍କ ସହ କୁସୁମ ଓ ମନ୍ଦାର ହାଟକୁ ବାହାରିଲେ। ରେବା ମାଉସୀ: ଆଗେ ମୋ ସିଲେଇ ସୂତା କିଣିବା। କୁସୁମ: ମୁଁ ବାଟ ଜାଣିଛି! ENGLISH Caption: The rain stopped. Kusum and Mandar set off for the market with their aunt Reba. Reba Mausi: First, I need some sewing thread. Kusum: I know the way! PANEL 2 — The familiar path seems to end Wide-to-medium view: the family stops before a leafy fallen branch that obscures the familiar right-hand bend. The triangular boulder is visible at the left of the bend. Mandar opens his hands in surprise; Kusum is uncertain; Reba stops behind them. The branch is an obstruction, not a full uprooted tree. No squirrel yet. ODIA Caption: ଜଙ୍ଗଲ ପାଖରେ ତିନିଜଣ ଅଟକିଗଲେ। ମନ୍ଦାର: ବାଟଟା କୁଆଡ଼େ ଗଲା? କୁସୁମ: ଆମେ ଭୁଲ୍ ବାଟରେ ଆସିନୁ ତ? ENGLISH Caption: At the forest edge, all three stopped. Mandar: Where’s the path gone? Kusum: Did we take a wrong turn? PANEL 3 — Kusum recognises a landmark Closer view of Kusum crouching beside the same triangular boulder, pointing to its pale diagonal vein. Reba looks toward the rock and listens. Mandar is outside this frame. Keep the leafy obstruction visible beyond them at the right; the geography has not changed. ODIA କୁସୁମ: ପଥରଟା ଦେଖ! ଆମେ ଏଇଠି ମୋଡ଼ ବୁଲୁ। ରେବା ମାଉସୀ: ଠିକ୍ କହିଲୁ। ENGLISH Kusum: Look at that rock! This is where we turn. Reba Mausi: You’re right. PANEL 4 — Chiku draws Mandar’s attention to the gap Mandar watches small Chiku run across the fallen branch, then points through a gap in its leaves. The visible strip of earth path continues behind the branch. Show the three pale back stripes on Chiku where the view permits. Kusum and Reba are outside this close frame. Chiku is going about its own activity, not beckoning to the children. ODIA Caption: ସେତିକିବେଳେ ଚିକୁ ଡାଳ ଉପରେ ଦୌଡ଼ିଗଲା। ମନ୍ଦାର: ଚିକୁକୁ ଦେଖ! ଡାଳ ପଛରେ ବାଟ ଅଛି! ENGLISH Caption: Just then, Chiku ran across the branch. Mandar: Look at Chiku! The path’s behind that branch! PANEL 5 — Reba chooses a familiar alternative Wider view: Reba indicates the open left-hand fork that curves around the boulder toward the market. Kusum and Mandar follow her gesture. The obstructed bend remains at the right and Chiku is a small figure on its branch. The open alternative must be visible as a continuous usable earth path. No one climbs over the branch. ODIA ରେବା ମାଉସୀ: ଏପଟ ବାଟଟା ବି ହାଟକୁ ଯାଏ। ଆଜି ଏପଟେ ଯିବା। ENGLISH Reba Mausi: This path goes to the market too. Let’s take it today. PANEL 6 — A joke as they go on The three walk along the open alternative, receding toward the left background. Mandar turns toward Kusum with a grin; Kusum laughs; Reba is amused. Chiku stays on the fallen branch at the right, looking back at them. The branch and boulder are still where they were. End on shared amusement, with no moral caption.
