ସ୍ଥାନ ଓ ସମୟ / Place and time
ଆଜିର ଓଡ଼ିଶାର ଏକ କାଳ୍ପନିକ ଛୋଟ ସହର ଓ ପାଖ ଗାଁ। ନିର୍ଦ୍ଦିଷ୍ଟ ଜିଲ୍ଲା ଧାର୍ଯ୍ୟ ନାହିଁ। ଏଗାର ବର୍ଷର ବେଣୁ ଓ ତା’ ବାପାଙ୍କ ସାନଭାଇ, ବାଉନ ବର୍ଷର ମାଧବ କକା। ମାଧବ ପୂର୍ବରୁ ପାଠାଗାର ସହାୟକ ଥିଲେ।
A fictional present-day Odisha town and neighbouring villages; no exact district is assigned. Eleven-year-old Benu and his father’s younger brother, fifty-two-year-old Madhab Kaka, a former library assistant.

ଭାବର ପରିବର୍ତ୍ତନ / The performance turn
ଚିହ୍ନା ବାଟରେ ନିଶ୍ଚିତ → ବନ୍ଦ ଗେଟ୍ ଦେଖି ଥମିବା → ଛୋଟ ସ୍ୱୀକାର → ଚାଲିଚାଲି ଗପ।

ପୋଷାକ ଓ ଚଳନ / Clothing and movement
ବେଣୁର ଢିଲା ସବୁଜ ଛୋଟ ହାତର ସାର୍ଟ, ବାମ ଛାତି ପକେଟ୍‌ରେ ଛୋଟ ଖାତା, ବାଦାମୀ ହାଫ୍ ପ୍ୟାଣ୍ଟ ଓ ଚପଲ। ମାଧବଙ୍କ କ୍ରିମ୍ ସୂତା କୁର୍ତ୍ତାର ହାତ ମୋଡ଼ା; ସାଧା ଧୋତିରେ ସରୁ ମଳିନ ନୀଳ ଧାର। ବାମ କାନ୍ଧରେ ଇଟାଲାଲ ବହିଥଳି, ଡାହାଣ ହାତରେ ବନ୍ଦ ନୀଳ ଛତା। ବସିଲେ ଥଳି ଓ ଛତା ପାଖରେ ରଖିବେ। ଧୋତିର କୁଞ୍ଚ ଓ ତଳ ଧାର ବସିବା, ଚାଲିବାରେ ସ୍ୱାଭାବିକ ରହିବ। ଏହା ଚରିତ୍ରଙ୍କ ଦୈନିକ ପସନ୍ଦ; ଧାର୍ଯ୍ୟ ନଥିବା ଜିଲ୍ଲାର ନିର୍ଦ୍ଦିଷ୍ଟ ପୋଷାକ ବୋଲି ଦାବି ନାହିଁ।
Benu wears a loose green short-sleeved shirt, a pocket notebook at his left chest, brown shorts and sandals. Madhab wears a cream cotton kurta with rolled sleeves and a simply wrapped dhoti with a narrow dusty-blue border. Rust cloth book bag on his left shoulder; folded blue umbrella in his right hand. When seated, he sets both beside him. Keep the dhoti’s folds and hem plausible when sitting and walking. These are the characters’ everyday choices, not a claimed costume of an unassigned district.

ପ୍ରତି ଦୃଶ୍ୟରେ ମେଳ / Continuity between shots
ପାଠାଗାର ଅଗଣାର ଏକ ବନ୍ଦ ପାର୍ଶ୍ୱ ଗେଟ୍ ଓ ଖୋଲା ମୁଖ୍ୟ ବାଟ। ଦୁହେଁ ବନ୍ଦ ଗେଟ୍ ଚଢ଼ିବେନି ବା ତାଲା ଛୁଇଁବେନି। ମାଧବଙ୍କ ଧୋତିର ତଳ ଧାର ଚପଲ ତଳେ ପଡ଼ିବନି। ଛତା ତଳମୁହାଁ, ଦେହ ପାଖରେ।
A closed side gate and an open main path in the reading-room courtyard. Neither climbs the gate nor handles the lock. Madhab’s dhoti hem stays clear of his sandals. The folded umbrella points down, close to his body.

ଦୃଶ୍ୟ 1 · 0–12 ସେକେଣ୍ଡ / Scene 1 · 0–12 seconds
ମାଧବ ଅଗଣାର ପାର୍ଶ୍ୱ ବାଟକୁ ମୁହଁ କରନ୍ତି। ବେଣୁ ତାଙ୍କ ସହ ଚାଲେ।
Madhab turns towards the side path. Benu walks with him.
ଧ୍ୱନି / Sound: ଚପଲ ଓ ଥଳିର ହାଲୁକା ଶବ୍ଦ। / Sandals and the soft movement of the bag.
ମାଧବ କକା: ଏପଟେ ଗଲେ ଶୀଘ୍ର ପହଞ୍ଚିବା।
Madhab Kaka: This way will get us there sooner.

ଦୃଶ୍ୟ 2 · 12–24 ସେକେଣ୍ଡ / Scene 2 · 12–24 seconds
କିଛି ଦୂରରୁ ବନ୍ଦ ଗେଟ୍ ଦେଖାଯାଏ। ଦୁହେଁ ଅଟକନ୍ତି। ମାଧବ ତାଲାକୁ ଦେଖି ଚୁପ୍ ହୁଅନ୍ତି।
The closed gate comes into view ahead. They stop. Madhab notices the lock and falls quiet.
ଧ୍ୱନି / Sound: ପାଦଶବ୍ଦ ଥମେ। / Footsteps stop.
ବେଣୁ: ଆଜି ତ ବନ୍ଦ।
Benu: It’s closed today.

ଦୃଶ୍ୟ 3 · 24–38 ସେକେଣ୍ଡ / Scene 3 · 24–38 seconds
ମାଧବ ଖୋଲା ମୁଖ୍ୟ ବାଟ ଆଡ଼କୁ ବୁଲନ୍ତି। ବେଣୁ ତାଙ୍କ ସହ ବୁଲେ।
Madhab turns towards the open main path. Benu turns with him.
ଧ୍ୱନି / Sound: ପୁଣି ପାଦଶବ୍ଦ। / Footsteps resume.
ମାଧବ କକା: ହଁ। ମୋର ମନେଥିବା ବାଟଟା ଆଜି ଚାଲିବନି।
Madhab Kaka: Yes. The way I remember won’t work today.

ଦୃଶ୍ୟ 4 · 38–54 ସେକେଣ୍ଡ / Scene 4 · 38–54 seconds
ଦୁହେଁ ଖୋଲା ବାଟରେ ଧୀରେ ଚାଲନ୍ତି। ମାଧବ ଗପ କହିବା ଆରମ୍ଭ କଲେ ବେଣୁ ତାଙ୍କ ଆଡ଼କୁ ଚାହେଁ।
They walk along the open path. As Madhab starts a story, Benu looks towards him.
ଧ୍ୱନି / Sound: ଚାଲିବା ସହ ଧୀର କଥା। / Unhurried talk over walking.
ମାଧବ କକା: ଏଇ ସମୟରେ ଗୋଟେ ଛୋଟ ଗପ ହୋଇଯିବ।
