ଚଳଚ୍ଚିତ୍ର ପାଠ୍ୟର ପ୍ରଥମ ଖସଡ଼ା। ସମୟ ଏକ ଲକ୍ଷ୍ୟ; କଣ୍ଠ ରେକର୍ଡ ହୋଇନାହିଁ।

ସ୍ଥାନ ଓ ସମୟ / Place and time
ବର୍ତ୍ତମାନର ଓଡ଼ିଶା। ଏକ ଛାଇଆ ଅଗଣା ଓ ବାରଣ୍ଡା; ଗାଁ ବା ଜିଲ୍ଲା ଧାର୍ଯ୍ୟ ହୋଇନାହିଁ।
Present-day Odisha. A shaded courtyard and veranda; no village or district has been fixed.

ଭାବର ପରିବର୍ତ୍ତନ / The performance turn
ଚମକି ପଛକୁ ହଟିବା → ଦୂରରୁ ଦେଖିବା → ନିଜେ ଫେରିବା। ଭୟକୁ ହାସ୍ୟର ବସ୍ତୁ କରିବା ନାହିଁ।
Startling and retreating → watching from a distance → choosing to return. Fear is not the joke.

ପୋଷାକ ଓ ଚଳନ / Clothing and movement
ନୀଳୁର ଛୋଟ ଲାଲ ସୂତା ସାର୍ଟ, ତା’ ନିଜ ବାମ ପଟେ ନୀଳ ପକେଟ୍ ଓ କ୍ରିମ୍ ରଙ୍ଗର ଛୋଟ ପ୍ୟାଣ୍ଟ। ଚଇତିର ନୀଳ ଢିଲା ଟ୍ୟୁନିକ୍‌ର ବେକରେ ସରୁ ସୁନେଲି ଧାର ଓ ମାଟିଆ ହଳଦିଆ ପ୍ୟାଣ୍ଟ। ବସିବା ଓ ଉଠିବା ସହ ଅଣ୍ଟା ଓ ଆଣ୍ଠୁର କୁଞ୍ଚ ବଦଳିବ।
Nilu wears a short red cotton shirt with a blue pocket on his anatomical left and cream cropped trousers. Chaiti wears a loose blue tunic with a narrow gold neckline and muted ochre trousers. Folds at the waist and knees respond to sitting and rising.

ପ୍ରତି ଦୃଶ୍ୟରେ ମେଳ / Continuity between shots
ଲାଲଚେ ବାଦାମୀ ଦେହ, କ୍ରିମ୍ ଛାତି, ଧଳା ପାଦ। ଡବାର ଧାର ମସୃଣ; ପିଲାମାନେ ତା’କୁ ହଟାଇଦିଅନ୍ତି। ଛୁଆକୁ ଡାକି ବା ଟାଣି ଆଣିବା ନାହିଁ।
Russet coat, cream chest, white paws. The smooth-edged tin is removed by the children. Nobody calls or pulls the puppy back.

ଦୃଶ୍ୟ 1 · 0–12 ସେକେଣ୍ଡ / Scene 1 · 0–12 seconds
ନୀଳୁର ହାତରୁ ଖାଲି ଡବା ମାଟିରେ ଗଡ଼େ। କୁକୁରଛୁଆ ଚମକି ବାରଣ୍ଡାର ସ୍ତମ୍ଭ ପଛକୁ ଯାଏ।
An empty tin rolls from Nilu’s hand. The puppy startles and retreats behind a veranda post.
ଧ୍ୱନି / Sound: ଏକ ଛୋଟ ଖଡ଼ଖଡ଼; ଅତି ଜୋର ନୁହେଁ। / A short rattle, not an excessively loud effect.

ଦୃଶ୍ୟ 2 · 12–24 ସେକେଣ୍ଡ / Scene 2 · 12–24 seconds
ଚଇତି ଡବା ଧରି ତଳେ ରଖିଦିଏ। ଦୁହେଁ ଛୁଆଠାରୁ ଦୂରରେ ବସନ୍ତି। ଛୁଆ ମୁଣ୍ଡ ଟିକେ ବାହାରକୁ କରେ।
Chaiti stops the tin and sets it aside. Both children sit at a distance. The puppy peeks around the post.
ଧ୍ୱନି / Sound: ଡବା ଶାନ୍ତ। ଅଗଣାର ମୃଦୁ ଶବ୍ଦ। / The tin is silent. Quiet courtyard sound.
ଚଇତି: ଶବ୍ଦରେ ଚମକିଗଲା।
Chaiti: That noise startled it.

ଦୃଶ୍ୟ 3 · 24–38 ସେକେଣ୍ଡ / Scene 3 · 24–38 seconds
ନୀଳୁ ଡବା ପରିବର୍ତ୍ତେ ଏକ ନରମ କପଡ଼ା ଗୋଲା ନିଜ ପାଖେ ରଖେ। ଦୁହେଁ ନିଜେ ନିଜେ ଧୀରେ ଖେଳନ୍ତି। ଛୁଆ ଦେଖେ।
Nilu puts a soft cloth ball beside him. The children play quietly between themselves. The puppy watches.
ଧ୍ୱନି / Sound: କପଡ଼ା ଗୋଲାର ନରମ ଥପ୍। / Soft thumps from the cloth ball.
ନୀଳୁ: ଏଇଟାରେ ଖେଳିବା।

ଦୃଶ୍ୟ 4 · 38–54 ସେକେଣ୍ଡ / Scene 4 · 38–54 seconds
ଛୁଆ ନିଜେ ଆଗକୁ ଆସି ଗୋଲା ଶୁଙ୍ଘେ। ତା’ପରେ ଗୋଲା ପାଖରେ ଶୋଇ ମୁଣ୍ଡ ରଖେ। ପିଲାମାନେ ହସି ଆଉ ଗୋଟିଏ କପଡ଼ା ନିଅନ୍ତି।
The puppy approaches and sniffs the ball. Then it lies beside it and rests its chin there. Smiling, the children reach for another scrap of cloth.
ଧ୍ୱନି / Sound: ନାକର ଶୁଁ ଓ ଆରାମର ନିଶ୍ୱାସ। / A sniff and a relaxed breath.
ଚଇତି: ଏଇଟା ଏବେ ତା’ର ତକିଆ।
Chaiti: That one’s a pillow now.
