ସ୍ଥାନ ଓ ସମୟ / Place and time
ପୁରୁଣା ଉପକୂଳ ଓଡ଼ିଶାର ଏକ କାଳ୍ପନିକ ନଦୀଘାଟ। ବୋଇତ, ବସ୍ତ୍ର ବ୍ୟବସାୟ ଓ ଯାତ୍ରା ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତିର ମୌଳିକ ଗପ। ବାର ବର୍ଷର ମାଳତୀ ହେମା ଓ ରଘୁଙ୍କ ଝିଅ। ଚାଳିଶ ବର୍ଷର ହେମା ବସ୍ତ୍ର ବ୍ୟବସାୟୀ, ଚଉରାଳିଶ ବର୍ଷର ରଘୁ ଯାତ୍ରୀ ବଣିକ। ପଚାଶ ବର୍ଷର ହରି ଅଭିଜ୍ଞ ନାଉରି ଓ ସହକର୍ମୀ। ନିର୍ଦ୍ଦିଷ୍ଟ ସନ, ବନ୍ଦର ବା ନୌପଥ ଧାର୍ଯ୍ୟ ନୁହେଁ। ଏହା ଆଜିର ବାଲିଯାତ୍ରା ମେଳାର ଦୃଶ୍ୟ ନୁହେଁ।
A fictional river landing in preindustrial coastal Odisha. Original stories of a boita, textile trade and preparations for a voyage. Twelve-year-old Malati is Hema and Raghu’s daughter. Hema, 40, is a textile trader; Raghu, 44, a merchant voyager; Hari, 50, an experienced boatman and colleague. No exact year, port or sailing route is specified. These are not scenes from today’s Bali Jatra fair.

ଭାବର ପରିବର୍ତ୍ତନ / The performance turn
ନିଜ ଯାତ୍ରା ଗପର ଗର୍ବ → ନିଜ ଅସୁବିଧା କହିବା → ଭୁଲ୍ ଭଙ୍ଗୀରେ ହସ → ଝିଅ ସହ ସେଇ ମୁହୂର୍ତ୍ତ ବାଣ୍ଟିବା।

ପୋଷାକ ଓ ଚଳନ / Clothing and movement
ଚୟନିତ ଚିତ୍ରର ପୋଷାକ ରହିବ: ମାଳତୀର ଲମ୍ବା ବେଣୀ, ମାଟିଆ ଲାଲ ଘାଘରା, କ୍ରିମ୍ ବ୍ଲାଉଜ୍ ଓ ସରୁ ହଳଦିଆ କାନ୍ଧ କପଡ଼ା। ହେମାର ନୀଳ ସୂତା ଶାଢ଼ୀରେ ସରୁ ଲାଲ–କ୍ରିମ୍ ଧାର, ଲାଲ ବ୍ଲାଉଜ୍, ତଳ ଖୋସା ଓ ଅଳ୍ପ ଅଳଙ୍କାର। ରଘୁଙ୍କ କ୍ରିମ୍ ଧୋତିର ଲାଲ ଧାର ଓ ବାମ କାନ୍ଧରେ ଗାଢ଼ ଲାଲ ଉତ୍ତରୀୟ। ହରିଙ୍କ ଛୋଟ ନୀଳ କାମ ଧୋତି, ଅଣ୍ଟାରେ ଲାଲ–କ୍ରିମ୍ ଚେକ୍ ଗାମୁଛା ଓ କ୍ରିମ୍ କାନ୍ଧ କପଡ଼ା। କପଡ଼ାର ଖୋସା ଓ ଶେଷ ଧାର ହାତର କାମରେ ଅଟକିବନି। ଏହା ଚିତ୍ରକଳ୍ପ; ନିର୍ଦ୍ଦିଷ୍ଟ ଶତାବ୍ଦୀର ପ୍ରମାଣିତ ପୋଷାକ ନୁହେଁ।
Keep the selected designs: Malati’s long braid, rust wrap skirt, cream blouse and narrow ochre shoulder cloth; Hema’s indigo cotton sari with narrow red/cream borders, plain red blouse, low bun and modest jewellery; Raghu’s cream dhoti with red border and deep-red uttariya over his left shoulder; Hari’s short indigo working dhoti, red/cream checked waist gamucha and cream shoulder cloth. Tucked ends should permit the work. These are illustrated interpretations, not authenticated costumes of a specific century.

ପ୍ରତି ଦୃଶ୍ୟରେ ମେଳ / Continuity between shots
ସମସ୍ତ ଦୃଶ୍ୟ ଘାଟରେ। ଅତୀତ ଘଟଣା ମୁଖରେ କୁହାଯାଏ; ଅନ୍ୟ ଦେଶ, ଲୋକ ବା ଭାଷାର ନକଲ ହେବନି। ଦୁଇ ହାତ ମାତ୍ର; ପ୍ରକୃତ ପାଣି ଢାଳିବା ନାହିଁ।
All shots remain at the landing. The earlier event is narrated; no imitation of another people, language or country. Two hands only; no actual water is poured.

Raghu and Malati sit in the shade. He recalls an incident from an earlier journey.

ସେ ଦୁଇ ହାତ ମୁହଁ ପାଖକୁ ନେଇ ଧୋଇବା ଭଙ୍ଗୀ କରନ୍ତି। ମାଳତୀ ଧ୍ୟାନରେ ଦେଖେ।
He brings both hands to his face in a washing motion. Malati watches closely.

ରଘୁ ସାଧବ: ହାତରେ ଏମିତି କହିଲି।
Raghu Sadhaba: So I said it like this, with my hands.

ମାଳତୀ ହସେ। ରଘୁ ନିଜ ଭଙ୍ଗୀ ପୁଣି ଦେଖି ମୁଣ୍ଡ ହଲାନ୍ତି।
Malati laughs. Raghu looks at his gesture again and nods.
ଧ୍ୱନି / Sound: ଦୁହିଁଙ୍କ ହସ। / Their shared laughter.
ମାଳତୀ: ତୁମେ ତ ମୁହଁ ଧୋଇବାକୁ କହୁଛ!
Malati: You’re asking to wash your face!
ରଘୁ ସାଧବ: ସେମାନେ ବି ସେଇଆ ବୁଝିଲେ।
Raghu Sadhaba: That’s what they understood too.

ଦୃଶ୍ୟ 4 · 40–56 ସେକେଣ୍ଡ / Scene 4 · 40–56 seconds
ରଘୁ ଏଥର ହାତକୁ ଛୋଟ ପାତ୍ର ପରି କରି ଓଠ ଆଡ଼କୁ ନିଅନ୍ତି। ମାଳତୀ ବୁଝି ହସେ।
This time Raghu cups one hand and brings it towards his lips. Malati understands and smiles.
ଧ୍ୱନି / Sound: ହସ ପରେ ଶାନ୍ତି। / Quiet after the laughter.
